Young Liu Foxconn Chairman Honoured with Padma Bhushan Award

26 January 2024: Young Liu, Chairman & CEO of Foxconn (Hon Hai Technology Group) Taiwanese Multinational electronics contract manufacturer is among the 132 awardees of Padma wards approved by President Droupadi Murmu on eve of 75th Republic Day.

On being honoured with this prestigious award, he said “I am deeply honored to receive Padma Bhushan from Government of India. My heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister, President and the wonderful people of India for this tremendous distinction. I firmly believe this is an affirmation of a collaboration that benefits India’s long-term development and supports the growth of local economies. I will continue to inspire my team. Let’s do our part for manufacturing in India and for the betterment of society.”

President Droupadi Murmu approved 132 Padma Awards, including Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri on the eve of Republic Day. Among the awardees, 30 are women, eight are from the category of Foreigners/NRI/PIO/OCI and nine are posthumous.

Padma Awards – one of the highest civilian Awards of the country, are conferred in three categories, namely, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. The Awards are given in various disciplines / fields of activities, viz.- art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service, etc. ‘Padma Vibhushan’ is awarded for exceptional and distinguished service; ‘Padma Bhushan’ for distinguished service of high order and ‘Padma Shri’ for distinguished service in any field. The awards are announced on the occasion of Republic Day every year.
