‘World’s Biggest’ 3D Printed object under Construction at Qatar’s 3D Printing Hub

26 August 2021: Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZA), WOLF Group QFZ LLC and Msheireb Properties have signed an agreement on 5 August 2021 to establish a 3D Printing and Digitalization Hub and Art Gallery in Ras Bufontas Free Zone, with its headquarters to be located in Doha Design District. They have also partnered to design and build the “world’s biggest” 3D printed object from recycled PET.

It is designed by Przemyslaw “Mac” Stopa from Massive Design, who will also design the interiors of the 3D Printing and Digitalization Hub. It is set to become a major statement on sustainability adorning Doha’s skyline as well as a significant tourist attraction.

The 3D Printing and Digitalization Hub will offer access for artists and enterprises to next-generation technologies such as 3D printing and innovative new techniques for scanning and photogrammetry. WOLF Group will facilitate the transfer of artists’ works from digital versions to real works of art using various materials, including recycled ones, helping to raise awareness of sustainable development methods. The Hub will be a place where designers and the general public can gather, create, and be inspired.

The collaboration supports Qatar’s National Vision 2030 to drive sustainable development and achieve a balance between the country’s growth needs and protecting the environment. The 3D Printing and Digitalization Hub will provide technological support for other companies in Qatar Free Zones, Doha Design District and across the country and the region.
