Vastex DTF Conveyor Dryer Remove Glycol Vapor, Condensate

18 February 2025: Two new DTF capable conveyor dryers from Vastex protect shop personnel from ethylene glycol, a toxic synthetic fluid emitted by DTF adhesives as a vapor during the curing process, it was announced by Mark Vasilantone, President.

Engineered specifically for DTF curing, in which adhesives off-gas large volumes of glycol, the new dryers draw filtered makeup air through the top-center of the heating chamber, and through its double-wall top and sides, serving to cool the outer skin and chamber edges for operator safety.

Preheated make-up air flows into the heat chamber, replacing the exhausted air being drawn out along each side of the belt, while preventing an inrush of air from the infeed and exit of the dryer that would otherwise disturb lighter materials. The volume of air entering the chamber is also adjustable, allowing the operator to fine-tune the air flow.

A washable mist separator removes glycol from the contaminated vapor, collecting its condensate in a removable receptacle. An optional Make-Up Air Heater is available to decrease the chance of make-up air cooling the product.

Air is drawn through the dryer by an exhaust fan located at the downstream end of the system to minimize exposure to heat and vapor contamination. A collar at the fan’s outlet allows connection of the user’s exhaust ductwork to the shop’s exterior.

Two models are offered, both with 24 in. (61 cm) wide, variable speed conveyor belts: model ERVP-III-24 comes standard with 10,800 watts of power, and model ERVP-VI-24 comes with 15,600 watts of power and a double-length heating chamber allowing double the belt speed (capacity).

“DTF printers must take caution that curing adhesive powders releases toxic vapors,” he says, adding, “These Vastex DTF-specific dryers employ advanced air mapping to reduce exposure to these fumes and collect glycol condensate, protecting the operating staff as well as the dryer’s heating elements.”
