Umrao Automation Completes 21 years in 2021
18 December 2021: The company, founded during the emergence of the new millennium, has a New Year resolution to achieve 80% growth by 2022 with a major expansion project and product improvisation underway
As the year 2021 comes to an end, Vasai-based Umrao Automation Pvt. Ltd. has also marked a major milestone by having completed 21 years of its existence in the market. The company’s Founder-Managing Director, Rajendra Rajage, whose launch of this venture coincided with the emergence of the new millennium, has set the Umrao Automation team a target to achieve about 80% growth in sales by the end of 2022, which is a noteworthy New Year resolution indeed and an inspiration for other players within the industry as well!
To achieve this goal, the company is currently undertaking a major expansion project, which would double up its production capacity. There is also a plan to launch new machines and equipment in the coming months. Even amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the company had managed to launch its new pneumatic automatic textile screen printing machine (oval and carousel type) along with textile dryers.
“We are planning to expand to meet the industry’s future demand, both in domestic and international markets. Right now, our facility is sufficient to only meet the domestic market requirements. Currently, our presence is only in the Middle East and East Africa, but we would like to spread our footprint in other territories globally. Moreover, we are extending our existing products range in addition, and plan to introduce some more new products, maybe within six months,” Rajendra Rajage, shared with Screen Print India magazine.
“I started the company in 2000. Today, we are known for the customization of screen printing machinery and equipment. Often customers come with their requirement, something that does not fit into the existing product range. We offer them customized solutions after thoroughly understanding their application. So 40% of our production is special purpose machines. Our major product and pride of India is the ‘Roll to Roll’ screen printing machine for the label industry. And of course, we have truly an import substitute high quality sturdy flatbed screen printing machines for diverse applications – graphics, commercial, industrial printing,” says Rajendra, adding, “The point to be noted here is that we fix prices of our equipment as per material and our manufacturing cost, warranty and keeping affordability factor in mind.”
Sharing some of the milestones of the company during this journey of over two decades, Rajendra, says, “One of our major achievements is the design and manufacture of the ‘Roll to Roll’ screen printing machine. So far we have sold around 60 ‘Roll to Roll’ screen printing machines. This Screen Printing Machine is specially designed and manufactured for printing for film or paper material in roll form, such as PET, PVC, PE, PV, PP, BOPP film, which has been widely used in heat transfer label, adhesive sticker, vulcanizing label, membrane switches, soft circuit board, printed electronics, control panels, graphics overlay.”
“Our next achievement is the introduction of import substitute Verti Print (2 post pillar type) screen printing machinery. These products have been well received in the market and we are successful in this product range. We are also proud to share that we had supplied a 3 x 5-metre print area exposing equipment and pneumatic fabric stretching set up to FG Glass Dubai and GlassTech Bahrain. This was our best export achievement,” he explains.
He concludes on an optimistic note, stating that “Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, electronics and PCB, Pharma packing (spot UV), garment industry (tags and transfer printing), textile printing, are some of the promising growth areas for the screen printing industry.”
