Silkflex Shines Brightly at Screen Print India – Textile 2023

7th June 2023: Tushar Sanghavi, Director, Silkflex Polymers India (P) Ltd. Shares Perspectives with Sheetal S. Patil on Importance of Product Quality and Strategies to Remain Consistent in the Market.

Silkflex is renowned for its sustainability emphasis and being environment-friendly; how was the response to your new launches at Screen Print India 2023 Textile ?
After COVID this is the first exhibition where we are participating in Mumbai. Our basic aim was to spread awareness about the new product range that we are offering to the garment industry that is why we are here. So, we have demonstrated our products to the prospective clients in Mumbai and will thereafter do a detail discussion on the same. We are getting to meet lot of people from other states as far as printing is concern and we are getting a good response for our product and brand. A few months ago, we showcased our offerings at GMMSA Expo India 2023 at Ludhiana, where again we made a significant impact. We introduced new inks to stop migration and received a tremendous response. The new buzzwords everywhere is ‘Go-Green’ and ‘Sustainability,’ and I am happy to say that we are at forefront of ‘Green’ technology.

What are your future plans to remain consistent in your product quality ?
In Mumbai, we are planning to make one cluster so that we can give proper training or build a proper demo centre. We are trying to arrange it in couple of months and once we have that, our company will able to give a live demo not only to customers but also printers who are looking for printing technology with new aspects and new product range.

What has been the feedback received from your clients so far? How do you define your growth strategy?
The growth is good, every year number of clients are increasing. We believe product should speak for itself. People are looking for feel, stretch and something which is best among other players in the market. Our strategy is to remain consistent with the quality of inks we supply. We have a team of experts, technicians, branch manager and lab facilities so instantly we can provide solutions. We have offices all over India Tirupur, Jodhpur Ludhiana, Mumbai, Delhi and Ahmedabad.

How important is certification and standardisation while selecting right kind of product for the application?
According to me certification is just a benchmark; ultimately the product has to speak on its own. When the product is printed and it goes to the ultimate customer, the feedback from the customer stating that ‘I want the printing to be done with specific product (ink)’ is what matters.

What is the USP of your company ? And how it differentiates you from the other worldwide competitors in the market ?
Our product’s performance gives us the lead among the other worldwide competitors with respect to excellent hand feel, high elasticity, high coverage, excellent brightness with less consumption. We recently expanded our focus to cover ‘Premium Wood Coatings’ segment. While introducing these products to the Indian market, we also endeavoured to increase awareness about the USPs that set them apart as well as the advantages they offer vis-à-vis other existing products by organising informative technical seminars at Jodhpur and Ahmedabad, both of which received a tremendous response.
Silkflex water-based wood coating systems are certified by IKEA, Wal-Mart, Target, Habufa and Kangaroo which require stringent quality finishing and sustained coating reliability. They are unique for the following reasons: UV resistance of at least 5 years, excellent hardness and scratch resistance, excellent adhesion on wood, outstanding abrasion resistance, rapid cure at ambient temperature, applicable at low temperature, low Volatile Organic Content (VOC), excellent water resistance (non-blushing), non-yellowing white coating, suitable for exterior applications.

Silkflex Polymers India has been on the fast track to growth since its inception, what are some of the key factors driving this ?
Silkflex Polymers India commenced operations in the year 2014 and it is commendable that in such a short span of time, we have set up offices in Kolkata, Ludhiana, Tirupur, Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Jodhpur. Today, Silkflex is among the top players in the Indian textile printing inks segment.
Our company is selling products of Silkflex Polymers Sdn. Bhd. Malaysia, the leading garment printing ink manufacturer at Malaysia with 1,500 MT per month capacity having a state-of-the-art thermal reactor. Unlike other suppliers, our inks are manufactured and formulated in-house, from the polymer/resin right up to the final ink. Since the performance of the ink is almost completely depended on the properties of the polymers/resin, we are able to design and tailor-make polymers/inks for specific application and effect.
Silkflex Polymers Sdn. Bhd. is in the list of nominated suppliers for PUMA, C&A and H&M, and is currently used by all major brands of apparel in the world including the recent expansion into European countries like Portugal, Turkey and Spain.
