Silkflex India Organises Seminar on ‘Premium Wood Coatings’ in Jodhpur & Ahmedabad
28 November 2022: Silkflex Polymers (India) (P) Ltd. recently marked the 8-year milestone with the inauguration of ‘Silkflex House’ and simultaneously expanded its focus to cover ‘Premium Wood Coatings’ segment. While introducing these products to the Indian market, the company also endeavoured to increase awareness about the USPs that set them apart as well as the advantages they offer vis-à-vis other existing products. To facilitate the process, Silkflex organised informative technical seminars at Jodhpur and Ahmedabad, both of which received a tremendous response.
The technical seminar conducted on November 17, 2022 at Hotel Radisson, Jodhpur, Rajasthan was held with support extended by the Jodhpur Handicrafts Exporters Association. The event commenced at 7.00 pm and it was attended by 150 industry colleagues related to wooden work. Tushar Sanghavi, Director, Silkflex Polymers India (P) Ltd., welcomed the invitees and gave an introduction of Silflex India, briefly commenting on the ‘Premium Wood Coatings’ being introduced by them in the Indian market.
Dr. Eric Tan, Managing Director, Silkflex Polymer Company Sdn Bhd, Malaysia, then spoke in detail about the company, how Silkflex Polymers has successfully produced the first ever water-based wood coatings (formerly known as Unaxol) that works on actual furniture production lines which exceeds the application and performance parameters of regular solvent-based wood lacquers like NC and AC and its USP and the future trends.
Bharat Dinesh, President, Jodhpur Handicrafts Exporters Association, thanked Dr. Eric Tan for the presentation and emphasised that in next 5-6 years the government may not allow or ban use of solvents in the wooden coating Industry. He also emphasised on ‘sustainability’ and eco-friendly products, which is going to play vital role in the future development of the industry. The function concluded with informal discussions dinner.
On Saturday, November 19, 2022, the next technical seminar was held at Courtyard Mariott, Ahmedabad. It was attended by 100+ interior decorators and architects. Tushar Sanghavi, Director, Silkflex Polymers India (P) Ltd., welcomed the attendees and explained that Silkflex water-based wood coating systems are certified by IKEA, Wal-Mart, Target, Habufa and Kangaroo which require stringent quality finishing and sustained coating reliability. They are unique for the following reasons: UV resistance of at least 5 years, excellent hardness and scratch resistance, excellent adhesion on wood, outstanding abrasion resistance, rapid cure at ambient temperature, applicable at low temperature, low Volatile Organic Content (VOC), excellent water resistance (non-blushing), non-yellowing white coating, suitable for exterior applications.
Dr. Eric Tan, Managing Director, Silkflex Polymer Company Sdn Bhd, Malaysia, emphasised that all Silkflex products are compliant with RoHS and free of the following chemicals: Formaldehyde, Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC), Phthalates, AZO groups, Heavy metal, Organotin, Isocyanate. “We are offering all colour pigments and develop the stains according to customer requirements. We have the range for exterior wood coatings also,” he affirmed. The function then concluded with interactions over dinner.
Both seminars were highly appreciated by the attendees and definitely helped them get a better idea about how the Silkflex products would benefit them going forward.
