Sarees Printed with ‘Pushpa’ Movie’s Poster is a Big Hit in Surat
14 February 2022: Who else can give the best commendation to the “Pushpa: The Rise”, than a short-film Actor-cum-Saree designer, Charanpal Singh, owner of Charanjeet Creation, Surat. Being an actor himself and as a saree designer, he decided to give his support and boost the popularity of the movie further by designing a special saree printed with the poster of the ‘Pushpa’.
The movie “Pushpa: The Rise,” starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, has been making a big wave in the entertainment industry and earning crores of rupees on the Box office. And now the movie has become the talk of the town in Surat saree market ever since Charanjeet Creation released their designer sarees. A video of this creation has been shared on social media and leading media have widely written about the ‘Pushpa’ saree.
Knowing the advantages of both digital and textile screen printing, Charanpal Singh said “Although I could have quickly engaged a digital printer to print the sarees, I rather engaged a leading textile mill to produce the sarees and print with the poster of the movie. And traditional textile printing has helped to present the sarees in a much better way. In all, we produced about 3,000 sarees and waiting for further orders. I am a great fan of Pushpa movies and have watched them several times. And, I decided to design a saree in support of the movie to express my enthusiasm.”
Traders and consumers from major states including Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are ordering their ‘Pushpa’ sarees. Charanpal Singh originally hails from Punjab. His first professional role has been saree designing, for over two decades. And his second professional role has been as an ‘Actor’ in short films.
Pushpa: The Rise – Part 01 is a 2021 Indian Telugu-language action drama film written and directed by Sukumar. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers in association with Muttamsetty Media, it stars Allu Arjun as the titular character alongside Fahadh Faasil (in his Telugu debut) and Rashmika Mandanna. The film depicts the rise of a coolie in the smuggling syndicate of red sanders, a rare wood that grows only in the Seshachalam Hills of Andhra Pradesh state.
Innovations in the Surat textile market is nothing new. First of all, there are several digital saree printers and it is easy to transform such big ideas quickly to meet the sudden demands for theme based sarees. In the past, Surat sold sarees with 3-D prints of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s images.
