31 May 2024: Sanjay Mehta, CEO, Shares Details About their Investment in a Sakurai Fully Automatic Flatbed Screen Printing Press and the Various Benefits it Provides.
Q: What were the key factors or capabilities that made you decide to invest in a Sakurai Fully Automatic Flatbed Screen Printing Press ?
A: As a company, for many years, we were dependent on manual screen printing, but surely we were also adding colours, bringing equipment to life. Protolab started its journey 35 years ago with 3 vacuum print tables and has grown with 15 manual tables still in operation, 18 semi-automatic machines and 3 Sakurai presses today. All in all we have no limitations to number of impressions and no compromise on registration, finish and quality.
We also have 4 jet dryers and 4 air circulating trolley size box ovens with 9 UV curing stations. USP of the Sakurai Machines is that they are speedy, efficient and sturdy. The Japanese technology enables perfection: “Print Perfect.”
Q: What returns do you expect on this investment by Protolab in the medium to long term ?
A: We commissioned our Sakurai machines in February 2020 and COVID was devastating, However by grace of God and strong support of our customers we are riding the wave of ‘Make in India’. Return on Investment or ROI for the Sakurai machines is typically 3-5 years; we should be looking at our next machine by the next year to augment capacities.

A: At Protolab we just do not sell products, we craft solutions. We are there with our customers from concept thru completion. We are an indigenous company believing in the ‘Make in India’ dream and in adding value to whatever we make on behalf of our customers spread globally.

However industrial printing will prevail as screen printed components and now also printed electronics. The future is always bright and the rays always vibrant for there is always a vibrant rainbow to print.
