Printers’ Unity Day Shines Bright at Baddi University

24 October 2024: Every year on October 22, printers across the nation come together to celebrate Printers’ Unity Day, a day dedicated to fostering the principles of Honesty, Integrity, and Networking – values that have guided the remarkable journey of Prof. Kamal Mohan Chopra. This year, the celebration took on a particularly heartfelt note as the Himachal Print-Pack Association hosted a grand event at Baddi University, commemorating not only the occasion but also the birthday of Prof. Chopra, a living legend whose tireless contributions continue to uplift and transform the printing industry.

The air was filled with admiration and anticipation as printers from Baddi and surrounding areas gathered to honour Prof. Chopra, a man whose vision and leadership have shaped the destiny of countless industry professionals. The celebration was a tribute not only to his incredible journey but also to the unity and resilience of the printing community.

The highlight of the day was an engaging seminar on the Challenges in the Printing Industry, where industry stalwarts and budding entrepreneurs alike gathered to exchange ideas and share their insights. The discussions were lively, with a clear focus on how to tackle the evolving challenges faced by the printing world in an era dominated by technological advancements and global competition.

In a moment of great pride, the newly formed managing body of the Himachal Print-Pack Association was introduced, marking a new chapter for the local printing fraternity. As the names were announced, applause filled the room. Ajay Bhardwaj, the newly appointed President, stood tall as he accepted the responsibility of leading the association, while Anupam Aggarwal and Gujinder Kundlis were introduced as the Vice Presidents. Tanuj Sharma took the role of General Secretary with Manoj Kumar Solera as Joint Secretary, Ajay Singh as Treasurer and Dr. Roop Kishore Thakur as Organizing Secretary. R. S. Rana was named Chief Advisor and Surinder Kumar Jain was honoured as the Chief Patron.

Speaking with deep passion and sincerity, Surinder Kumar Jain called upon the university to consider launching Printing and Packaging courses, emphasizing the urgent need to cultivate skilled professionals who would ensure the industry’s bright future. “Printing is evolving faster than we can imagine,” he remarked. “We need our next generation to not only be aware of these changes but to lead them.” His appeal was met with enthusiasm, and Prof. T. R. Bhardwaj, Chief Advisor to the Vice Chancellor, gave an encouraging response. “We are seriously considering this proposal. The printing industry deserves nothing less than the best and Baddi University is ready to play its part,” he assured, eliciting cheers from the crowd.

In an address that moved the audience, Prof. Kamal Mohan Chopra graciously expressed his gratitude to the Himachal Print-Pack Association for celebrating Printers’ Unity Day in such a meaningful way. “Unity is our strength,” he began, his voice resonating with conviction. “We are living in a time where the world is changing rapidly, and only through collective effort can we overcome the hurdles that lie ahead.” He spoke directly to the students present, inspiring them with his words: “Printing is no longer just ink on paper. Look around you – printing is everywhere. We can print buildings, human organs, even food. The old boundaries have dissolved, and now, with the rise of AI and digital technologies, the printing industry has endless possibilities. It’s up to you, the next generation, to seize these opportunities.”

The event culminated in a cake-cutting ceremony, a touching gesture by Himachal Print-Pack Association and Baddi University to celebrate Prof. Chopra’s birthday. The moment was symbolic, not only of the personal milestone but also of the immeasurable impact he has had on the industry. As the cake was cut, the room erupted in applause, the atmosphere brimming with admiration and gratitude.
