Photokina Chemicals inaugurates training centre in its factory premises at Ahmedabad

10 May 2024: Jagdish Sheth, Managing Director, shares details about the topics covered in the first program conducted and key advantages of attending the sessions.

We recently inaugurated our state-of-the-art training centre at the at the earmarked section of our Photokina Chemicals (P) Ltd. (PCPL) factory premises at Ahmedabad and also conducted the first training program on May 2-3, 2024.

The two-day session, held from 10.00 am to 17.30 pm, was attended by eight customers; all of them from Gujarat covering cities like Surat, Ahmedabad, Rajkot and Baroda, representing the commercial / graphic and textile segment. There was exhaustive up-to-date knowledge sharing and lots of practical learning of an experiential nature.

The seminar covered a wide range of subjects on basic to advanced screen making including mesh geometry, stretching techniques, stencil making, frame profiles, ink deposits and ink controls, coating technique to achieve high inks depositions, reclaiming, trouble shooting, etc. Most of the time was spent on ‘hands-on’ training.

The seminar was conducted by Aadity Padhye, a leading screen printing consultant-cum-academic based in Pune while I shared my practical knowledge gained over the years and problem sharing with solutions. The participants were very much happy with the course content and knowledge plus the information gained and wanted extension of the course covering printing aspect also.

Every month three courses will be held in the first week related to Textile, Industrial Screen Printing and on Advanced screen making. We are looking forward to closely working with other leading industry players and manufacturers like ink manufacturers and equipment manufacturers to offer technical support and scope for expanding.

For the first year, PCPL will offer free training excluding travelling cost; hotel expenses, food and training is free. We are looking forward to training and educating the screen printing technicians / industry colleagues with cutting-edge technology developments and I am sure that the fruit of these educational efforts being done by us will be enjoyed by the whole industry in coming years. It is our contribution / commitment to PM Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Skill India’ initiative.

There are gaps in understanding the basics of advanced screen making knowledge and processes which play a pivotal role in achieving the desired quality screen printed product. Moreover, new technological developments in the area of screen making and screen printing need to be imbibed in the printers; which is what inspired us to initiate the training institute.

It is a full-fledged experience centre where we have installed advance screen making machines, conference room for classroom sessions with power point presentations and practical sessions to demonstrate the usage of products and the processes involved in screen making.
