Pantone Dedicates Two Shades to Ukraine – Main Colours of 2022 Are ‘Free’ Blue and ‘Energetic’ Yellow
08 March 2022: At the end of 2021, the Pantone Color Institute chose “Very Peri” as the trending colour for 2022, describing it as a new shade of blue with purple-red undertones (17-3938). And now, post the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Pantone has chosen the new main colours of 2022. These are the shades of yellow and blue called “free” blue and “energetic” yellow to signify the colours of the Ukrainian flag. As an illustration for the same, Pantone unveiled a picture of sunflowers against a blue sky along with a picture with the flag of Ukraine.
The institute has been defining the main colour for each year since 2000. The Pantone Color Institute is Pantone’s research centre dedicated to experimenting with colour and its impact on industries such as fashion, printing, design, advertising, film and more.
