OBITUARY: Prakash Prabhu, Founder of Mudra Arts at Panaji, Goa has passed away
08 September 2021: Prakash Prabhu, one of the leading distributors of screen and offset printing materials and inks in Goa has passed away. His demise has been attributed to old age (71 years). He is survived by his family members; wife Sunaina, son Anup and daughter Trupati. Prakash Prabhu studied at The J. J. School of Fine Arts (Mumbai) and was inclined towards this field, having a passion for creative expression right from the beginning itself.
He started the business at Goa in 1977 and this year, on September 5, 2021, they completed 44 glorious years in the service of the printing industry. Under the aegis of Prakash Prabhu, Mudra Arts developed into a very well-reputed and popular brand name within the industry and among printers from all over Goa, Kolhapur, Belgaum and the surrounding region. He used to regularly visit the screen printing exhibitions in India and disseminate the latest knowledge to printers at the grass root level.
In the starting years, it was a herculean task as screen printing materials were not easily available and there was not too much awareness about the same in Goa. He conducted various seminars in association with leading companies to create awareness in the local printing community.
From the last few years now, the business is being taken care of by his daughter Trupati. Determined to sustain his entrepreneurial venture with the same level of commitment and dedication, she said, “I look forward to carrying my father’s legacy ahead and serve the industry with a high level of morals and ethics.”
The entire printing industry joins us at Screen Print India in paying homage to an industry veteran. Om Shanti.
