Indian Technology Leader Moving Globally with Success and Pride: Vama Prints & Technologies (P) Ltd.

03 September 2024: Bhavesh Shah, Managing Director, Vama Prints & Technologies (P) Ltd. Shares Details About New Product Developments, DTF Printing Technology Trends.

Which are the new products developed by Vama Prints & Technologies for the growing DTF segment ?

There are several new developments like new grades F86SM1/DTF Hot Peel, which is made for the very quality demanding USA market, which is highly obsessed with instant Hot Peel and F83SM1/DTF Economy, which is made specially for the clients who are looking for cost-effective film in India and abroad. As the new generations of printers are getting faster with more inkjet heads, there are also developments or upgrades in existing all grades and quality of Ultranex DTF film for higher ink absorption power to dry ink rapidly to match printing speeds of machine.

As you are participating in many overseas trade fairs, how has been the response to your products ?

We have participated in 7 International shows in the last 2 years including Europe and USA. Frankly, the response is mixed from okay to overwhelming but whenever we participate one thing is for sure – everyone whomsoever visits our booth be it any country or region, they were very interested to understand our product and company profile. Visitors are very happy to understand new DTF and Heat Transfer release film are Made in India and they want to buy Indian made products. We are gradually converting the leads to clients with our proficiency of consistent quality and service to the clients. As being a technology-based company and not a reseller or relabelling company of product we are able to give our international clients robust solutions to their challenging demands. For sure, we are now getting repeat orders from our existing overseas client base and we are increasing the client base continuously all over the globe. Most overwhelming part is that our quality of films are accepted in the most challenging and consistent quality conscious countries market like Japan and USA.

To how many countries is Vama Prints & Technologies now exporting ?

We are now exporting to over 14 countries including Belgium, Italy, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Egypt, Sri Lanka, USA and Japan.

What’s the reason or your strategy to introduce ‘economical’ DTF film ?

As grade name DTF Economy suggests, this grade is the economical option for the markets highly dominated with low price film from China and day-by-day, the price competition is getting fierce. The low-cost film market is big and cannot be neglected and our normal or premium grade DTF will never be able to compete in price with this market in cost.

DTF Economy is the grade, which will not only compete in price but also quality, so we promote this film as “low in price & trustable quality”. We have tried to pitch into the segment of the market, which is lowest in the price and often the users end up buying quality which does not work at all. But with Ultranex DTF Economy, we want to offer a best price and a standard quality which works always.

What are the global trends in textile printing industry as you forsee ?

In the textile printing industry, clients are demanding customisation in promotional and customised garments. DTF is becoming a game changer by meeting demand for customisation, with just a click print 1 or print 1,000 labels without and setups or stencils. DTF Being a very cost-efficient setup, its going in the textile printing industry like a wildfire.

But having said that it is a cost-effective setup, it should be also understood it is high in technology. Some new users are facing challenges using it and end up burning money on machine maintenance and rejections. Big brands are now adding DTF machine into their portfolio and making technology more sophisticated and resulting in better quality.

In the same way, direct screen printing on garment and DTG printing are growing but whenever I have a talk with people their opinion is that DTF is growing faster. My personal opinion is that direct printing on garment has its own place and also look and feel.

Screen printed transfers are now getting more demanding with HD Transfers in various inks, mainly silicone inks. High volume neck labels are still dominated with screen printing process, which is very hard to replace but all manufacturers are moving to automation to boost productivity and reduce rejection.

What is your guidance to industry members for exploring export markets ?

I have been personally visiting the shows overseas in the brands like FESPA Global, Printing United. It gives goose bumps to even attempt for it financially and psychologically. But if you have strong quality control and consistent quality India made products with overseas demand, surely burning some money will pay off as the world is looking at India to source its requirements.

Eye on the Future Products …
Apart from DTF there is a big market for screen printed textile transfers like …

  • Hybrid transfers: Colours are printed with Ricoh or IndigoHP printers and back-up white, blocker, adhesives are printed with screen printing but limited to Europe and USA markets
  • Silicone transfers are getting rapid popularity in all the markets around the world.
  • Normal neck labels with a variety of inks in plastisol and water-based inks are now getting printed on automatic machines.

Vama Prints & Technologies have been working continuously since a long time to make one grade for all and now they have a new grade F108SM1/Universal which suffice all above requirements in 1 film. But this film comes with a cost so apart from this they have new various grades to make their film cost-effective.

  • F108SM1/Silicone for rubbery feel silicone transfers
  • F111SM1/Silicone Special for slippery feel silicone transfers, it’s just 1 step below Universal grade.
  • F83SM1/LithoHP for Instant hot peel transfers and Litho Offset printing.
