Hayleys Group of Sri Lanka introduces working vacation to entire team 31,000 employees

05 October 2020: Ever since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, the whole world had moved to ‘work from home’ concept. Now, in a first time ‘Work from Hotel’ initiative offered by any Sri Lankan company, the 31,000 strong team at Hayleys Group now enjoy a working vacation at any Hayleys property around Sri Lanka.

Founded in 1878, Hayleys has grown to be one of Sri Lanka’s biggest multinational business conglomerates, owning a remarkable portfolio of key industry sectors, including manufacturing, agriculture and services, with manufacturing facilities in Indonesia, India and Thailand, marketing operations in Australia, India, Bangladesh, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, UK and USA. With a 142 year heritage and business interests that span across 16 sectors, including textiles, Hayleys is the first listed company in Sri Lanka to cross USD1 bn revenue in Fiscal Year 2017/18.

Hayleys Fabric, a Group company of Hayleys, is the pioneer in Weft Knit Fabric Manufacturing in Sri Lanka. Hayleys Fabric supplies fabric to leading global fashion brands.

Hayleys is encouraging its team to take advantage of work-vacations. It offers numerous work facilities into the properties including Zoom rooms to facilitate a seamless working environment.

Hayleys Chairman and Chief Executive Mohan Pandithage said that ‘Work from Hotel’ initiative for the entirety of the Hayleys team augments the Group’s policy of good work-life balance. “This has shown what our team is made of – an innovative mindset, positive attitude, thinking ahead and absolute passion. It is imperative that we appreciate their contribution by inviting them to experience the properties that they themselves have helped to build into the strong brands.”
