Harsh Malhotra, Former President of Delhi Printers Association, Becomes A Parliamentarian

09 September 2024: There were loud cheers from printing community when Harsh Malhotra, Member of Parliament from the East Delhi constituency was recently sworn In as a Union Minister of State in the new government at the centre headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Born On April 24, 1964 in Delhi, the first-time MP is the eldest of three sons of educator parents. Venturing into the printing business in the year 1986, he has been President of the Delhi Printers Association, which is considered to be one of the largest associations of printers in that region with over 6,000 members.

Harsh Malhotra has been advocating for the welfare of the printing community and also served as the Joint Secretary of the All India Federation Of Master Printers (AlFMP), the apex body of printers in India. During the relocation of industries in Delhi in the year 1996, he played a crucial role in ensuring the smooth relocation of printers to the Bawana Industrial Area.

Well known for his organisational acumen and has worked at the grassroots level to strengthen the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) in Delhi. He was selected over other prominent names and fielded from the East Delhi Lok Sabha Constituency in the 2024 General Elections in place of cricketer Gautam Gambhir, who wanted to focus on his cricket commitments.

Referred to as a ‘dark horse,’ Harsh Malhotra won by 93,663 votes. He is currently In-Charge General Secretary, BJP Delhi unit. Having completed his graduation from the University of Delhi’s Hansraj College, he also pursued a LLB from the same university in 1987. He first become a Councillor of the erstwhile East Delhi Municipal Corporation in 2012 from Welcome Colony. He was appointed Chairman of the civic body’s education committee before taking over as Mayor in 2015-16 and promoting organ donation is among his key initiatives.
