Drop Tech Launches ‘Make in India’ ‘Voyager’ Digital Textile Printer at SITEX 2022
11 January 2022: Surat based startup, Drop Tech has kick started their ‘voyage’ in the textile industry by launching their first digital textile printer called, “Voyager.” The new ‘Made in India’ textile printer was launched at the recent SITEX 2022 expo held in Surat on 8-10 January 2022.
Drop Tech was established by three young entrepreneurs, Pragnesh Navadia, Akhil Kapadia and Viral Gabani. “As the Indian textile market including Surat, by and large, is catered by imported digital textile printers, we decided to offer ‘Make in India’ product as an import substitution,” says Akhil Kapadia, adding, “We had seen many Chinese machines in Surat but during Covid-19 there were problems. So, our Voyager digital textile printer offers many advantages. In this highly competitive market, where in both Chinese brands and Japanese/European brands are dominating, we are offering highly competitive prices (perhaps the lowest in its category) which enables fastest ROI and lesser cost of production in printing.”
The company has a new factory admeasuring 5,500 sq. ft. and the second one with the same size would be ready in 3-4 months. The company has an R&D to create and develop more machines in future. Drop Tech’s Voyager digital textile printer is fitted with Epson printheads which are designed for textile printing with accuracy and speed at 240 sqm/h. The Drop Tech digital textile printer offers a resolution of 3,200 DPI and support of CMYK and ORGB with 4 colors and 8 colors print configuration. Voyager can print 185 cm of fabric such as Polyester, cotton, rayon, viscose and poly cotton, etc seamlessly. One can print the most beautiful designs on fabric with limitless color options and minimum labor.
According to the company official, the digital printer comes with a proprietary printing software which enables variable drop size control and Pass control, varying from – 1 Pass to 16 Pass. The printer is fitted with an innovative moving bar system for easy fabric movement. It has a blanket cleaning system for proper blanket drying and cleaning. Through intense R&D, they have developed a new ink drop technology to deliver efficient printing system.
“We have designed a business model, wherein there is no binding on the customers and they can opt for open ink system; even they get parts from the market since our machines have very simple design and mechanism,” says Akhil.
As for future plans, Drop Tech will launch a sublimation printer within six months. “And for our new digital textile printer, initially we will try to penetrate in the Surat market and then spread our presence pan India through promotions and marketing efforts,” says Akhil Kapadia. There is good potential for digital textile printers in Surat. And the textile industry is gradually adopting digital technology owing to numerous problems in flatbed and rotary screen printing,” he concludes.
