CES 2021: LG introduces foldable phone called LG Rollable

15 January 2021: Several phone companies are exploring the concept of foldable phones. And now, LG Electronics, Korean electronics major, has revealed the name of their new foldable phone at CES 2021, LG Rollable – planned to be launched later this year. At CES 2021, LG demonstrated the rolling mechanism in action.

As reported by Nikkei Asia, LG released a five-second teaser scene, featuring a smartphone with the display rolling out to expand as the case slides up at the digital show.

The LG Rollable has a display that can expand from traditional smartphone size to something more akin to a small tablet. There is not a hinge or folding mechanism in sight – the whole process looks like, well, magic. The benefits for creatives could be game-changing, though – users could literally unroll a larger digital canvas when required. It would not be a stretch to imagine a rollable becoming the first smartphone to rival our best drawing tablet
