Brother Organises DTG Awareness Program in Nepal
06 May 2024: Brother recently organised a three-day DTG Awareness Program at Kathmandu on April 23-25, 2024, in coordination with its local partner Shrestha Amrit Traders (P) Ltd. The Open House highlighted the new market potential in Nepal and aimed to facilitate its growth.
Santosh Jaiswar, Manager, Industrial Printer Division said “Overall, 30 printers visited from all over Nepal; the overall profile of visitors included segments like garment user, print on demand user and fashion house. They appreciated the concept of DTG and liked the quality of DTG over DTF. The visitors also showed interest in the new DTE (Direct to Embroidery) concept product line by Brother.”
“It was felt that such an awareness session and interaction is required in Nepal because the market awareness of DTG concept, print on demand, e-commerce concept, is really less. It was advisable to educate the people on how the D2C business can be grown with the help of Brother DTG technology. There is market potential in Nepal; the market is still growing and will need some time to develop.”
With Brother world class DTG technology we are exploring new markets and expanding our reach to countries with potential and Nepal is one of them. DTG makes it simple to create high-quality printed garments and relieves you from needing highly skilled, extensively trained employees with years of printing experience. Direct to Garment (DTG) printing is simply an emerging garment decorating technology that became widely available in the commercial market in the mid-2000s. Unlike traditional labour-intensive processes such as screen printing and embroidery, DTG utilises inkjet printing technology to send a full colour, detailed design directly from a computer to a digital printer with a garment loaded into it.
Nepal’s merchandise trade balance has improved somewhat since 2000 with the growth of the carpet and garment industries. In recent years, the European Union has become the largest buyer of ready-made garments. Exports to the EU accounted for 46.13 percent of the country’s garment exports. Nepal is also trying to establish itself as one of the major textile manufacturers in South Asia.
Nepal has an opportunity to establish itself as the country that prioritises eco-friendly textiles. With abundant amounts of plants like nettle, hemp, jute, etc. Nepal can establish itself as one of the largest exporters of eco-friendly textiles in the South Asian market. The collaboration with local artisans can help us achieve new heights of design, quality, scalability and sustainability and there is a good scope of expansion for Brother DTG / DTF / DTE printers going forward.
