
Bharat Tex 2025: PM Modi Targets 3x Growth in Textile Exports by 2030
20 February 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister of Textiles, Giriraj Singh, visited the Brands of India Pavilion at Bharat Tex 2025, showcasing over 40 leading apparel brands and highlighting India’s strong domestic apparel sector. This visit marked a significant moment as the Prime Minister set a target to increase India’s textile exports to Rs.9 lakh crores by 2030, a three-fold rise from the current figure.
The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI), which organized the pavilion, played a central role in the event, not only showcasing India’s top apparel brands but also launching sustainable initiatives such as the SU.RE website in partnership with the United Nations and the Sustainable Supply Chain Directory with CEE and GATS. These initiatives aim to drive industry collaboration focused on sustainability and a regenerative future for Indian fashion.
Prime Minister Modi expressed his confidence that the industry will surpass the ambitious target ahead of schedule, given the enthusiasm witnessed at the event. The pavilion also hosted insightful panel discussions and facilitated interactions between industry leaders, policymakers, and sustainability experts, reinforcing India’s commitment to leading the global apparel sector.
Santosh Katariya, President of CMAI, highlighted the importance of sustainability and innovation in shaping the future of India’s apparel industry, which remains a key pillar of the nation’s economic growth. The pavilion featured notable brands like Allen Solly, American Eagle, Biba, Calvin Klein, Sabyasachi, Tommy Hilfiger, and many more, showcasing India’s vibrant and innovative retail market.
Bharat Tex 2025, India’s premier textile and apparel trade fair, further strengthened the country’s position as a leader in manufacturing, innovation, and sustainability, attracting top policymakers, international exhibitors, and global buyers.
