Bharat Tex 2024 to propel the Indian Textile Industry forward by leaps and bounds

24 October 2023: Bhadresh Dodhia, Chairman, SRTEPC, Chairman, MATEXIL and Co-chairman of the show recently shared his views about its significance in a LinkedIn Post.

The textile industry is one of the oldest industries in the country and has played a significant role in the Indian economy. It is currently the second largest employer in the country after agriculture, with a market size of USD 154 Bn. India is among the largest markets in the world and the top 5 exporters in the textile industry.

The estimated size of the Indian Textiles Industry in 2022 is USD 154 Billion, and under the guidance of Piyush Goyal, we aim to achieve an industry size of USD 350 Bn in 2030, with exports contributing USD 100 Bn. The industry has received much-needed impetus in the form of policy interventions that focus on positioning India as a global manufacturing hub and preferred sourcing destination.

To achieve Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of 5F, the Consortium of Textiles Export Promotion Council is organizing the Mega Textiles Show, which is an outreach platform for market promotion, policy reforms, investment, and trade for the entire textile value chain. The Knowledge Session and Roundtables will position India as a think tank for the future of the global textiles industry, with sessions covering all the stakeholders, international experts, and industry captains.

The Bharat Tex ’24 would have an unprecedented scale of exhibitions and Reverse BSMs, providing Indian players with the opportunity to showcase their products to global buyers. It would also provide ample opportunities to collaborate and partner with global players through JVs, Technology Transfers, and focused B2B Meetings.

In the Knowledge Sessions, we would cover various core themes such as sustainability, smart manufacturing, the future of apparel retail, state sessions, partner country sessions, workshops, and masterclasses on various technical topics for the benefit of textile value chain players. The Exhibition would cover 6 key dedicated centres covering the entire value chain, which would provide unprecedented opportunities for Indian players to showcase their product range.

We are expecting over 3,500 exhibitors, over 3,000 overseas buyers and delegates, and over 40,000 domestic buyers to attend the event. The event would be organized in state-of-the-art world-class convention centres of Bharat Mandapam with an area of 1,10,000 sq. Mtr and Yashobhoomi with an area of 60,000 sq. Mtr.

This mega event is “by the industry, for the industry, and to the industry”, and I would like to thank Minister Piyush Goyal for his overwhelming support. I would request the esteemed industry captains to be a part of this mega event and take the Indian Textile Industry forward by leaps and bounds.

Noteworthy aspects of the event
Union Minister of Textiles, Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs and Food & Public Distribution Piyush Goyal lauded industry bodies of the textile sector for their initiative in organising Bharat Tex 2024 – the largest ever textiles event, scheduled to be held from 26-29 February 2024 at state-of-the-art, world-class iconic destinations Bharat Mandapam at Pragati Maidan and Yashobhoomi at IICC, Dwarka, New Delhi. Presiding over the curtain raiser event for the show at Vanijya Bhavan, New Delhi, he emphasised that Bharat Tex 2024 Expo is not just an event but a testament to India’s commitment to becoming a global textile powerhouse. “With innovation, collaboration, and the Make in India spirit at its core, this expo is the embodiment of our 5F vision – Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign, making products not just for India but for the entire world”, he added. He also hoped that the marquee event, Bharat Tex 2024 Expo would propel the industry’s growth and showcase India’s potential as a mature, competitive global sourcing destination in the global textile industry. Minister also launched the fair logo, website and video at the event. He urged the industry to use this event to highlight India’s global strengths, its sustainability initiatives as well as its strengths across the value chain.
