Apple unveils its largest Technology Centre in Bengaluru
15 October 2020: Apple has opened its largest Technology Centre in Bengaluru. The Centre can house as many as 4,000 personnel as per media reports. Earlier on September 23, 2020 Apple had launched the Apple Store online in India, offering Apple’s full range of products and support directly to customers across the country for the first time.
The new online store provides customers with the same premium experience found in Apple store locations around the world, delivered by online team members who are ready to offer their expertise.
“We’re proud to be expanding in India and want to do all we can to support our customers and their communities,” said Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s senior vice president of Retail + People. “We know our users are relying on technology to stay connected, engage in learning, and tap into their creativity, and by bringing the Apple Store online to India, we are offering our customers the very best of Apple at this important time.”
It may be noted that Apple has been operating in India for more than 20 years, and the company’s ongoing investment and innovation support almost 900,000 jobs across the country. Apple’s App Design and Development Accelerator in Bengaluru has supported thousands of local developers. In 2016, Apple had launched a new initiative to support engineering talent and accelerate growth in India’s iOS developer community.
As COVID-19 presents immense challenges and uncertainties for communities across the country, Apple’s teams are supporting local organisations to provide remote learning with study guides and curricula.
