Image Printings Celebrates Two Decades Landmark

13 January 2022: Tirupur based Image Printings is celebrating its 20th Anniversary. It is a mere coincidence that the company has also installed an imported 20 color/66 pallet (70 x 105 inch) Oval Textile screen printing machine with 20 flash curing units. This big-ticket investment, costing over Rs.75 lakhs plus, also indicates the growth and progress of Image Printings, the national and international award-winning textile printing company. This new Oval printer is in addition to a 16 color/54 pallet Oval screen printer.

And, on this 20th year, K.S. Senthil Kumar, Managing Director of Image Printings, has definite plans to add two more imported Oval Textile screen printing machines in the next few months. The company’s 15,000 sq. ft factory currently houses 2 oval screen printing machines, 2 carousal screen printers, table printing and four garment embossing machines.

After his B.Sc, followed by an MBA, Senthil Kumar moved out from Tirupur to Mumbai to take up a lucrative job. He worked for 6 months in a Computer Hardware company, drawing a salary of Rs.140,00 per month (in 2004). Today, he employs over 40 people! “Although I wanted to continue working, I thought it would be my responsibility to take the call from my father (Siva Sami) to join his business and I did not want to close it down for want of a successor. When I joined it was not so big business as there were just 4 printing tables. Later, I revamped our printing unit. I visited an Expo in China in 2008 and witnessed advanced screen printing technologies, high-quality inks, mesh, etc. So, in 2020, I invested in M&R automatic textile screen printing machine. After achieving rapid success in automation, I invested in yet another M&R and further expanded the total table printing capacity to 220 ft x 8 tables,” explains Senthil Kumar.

On the main reasons for his success, he says:
“I can say: ‘Focus on quality’ was my strategy. It may be mentioned that I was not a screen printing professional or a graphic designer when I joined my father’s business. I developed a passion and my company witnessed about 70% growth YoY from 2012 to 2016 when I got into sublimation printing. Despite the pandemic and slump in the market, now also we are maintaining about 40% growth YoY. Owing to our quality, we received several national and international awards.

Recalling on memorable order, Senthil Kumar says, “In 2019, we received one big order for 1,05,000 pieces involving single design printing. And, recently, we received another big order for 86,000 pieces. Normally our orders are in the range of 40,000 to 60,000 pieces. Usually, I offer 20 to 30 samples to our clients, out of which 10-15 orders are sure shot. We are the main jobworker for MAF Clothing (P) Ltd., Tirupur. I am thankful to its Director, Munavar Jaliwala for having trust in our quality, delivery and service. As a result, since 2010 they have been our backbone and our 90% of the job orders come from MAF Clothing.

Highlighting the impact of Covid-19 pandemic, he recalls “As labourers were going back to their native places, we booked a special bus for our 25 staff, to move out from Tirupur to Assam. We took care of them and they came back after the lockdowns were eased out. I feel, in the saga of growth and success of any business, entrepreneurs should have compassion and take into consideration the dedication and sincerity of workmen who are the prime movers in our production.”
