Mask fashion in the limelight at 2020 MTV Video Music Awards
02 September 2020: At the recent 2020 MTV Video Music Awards, Lady Gaga had some masktivism moments as all her performances featured her wearing innovative and appealing face masks. Lady Gaga (known as Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta), an American singer, songwriter, record producer, actress, and businesswoman, stormed the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) held live in New York City recently with her innovative way of performance, this time with innovative masks. The event was held without an audience owing to social distance protocols. Lady Gaga accepted her awards in person, with eye catching wardrobe and designer masks on face. She changed clothes every single time she appeared on stage (She appeared seven times).
Every time she appeared, she made it a point to wear a different face mask! In the process she used her image to do for mask fashion and designers. Lady Gaga first made her entry with a matching clear face shield/astronaut helmet. To accept her artist of the year award, she wore a pink Cecilio Castrillo face mask; for the song of the year award, she wore tusked Lance V. Moore mask.
She made another entry, with mask by Diego Montoya and Smooth Technology. And finally, she wore a silver Maison Met mask.
At the end, Gaga took the mike and appealed to say: Wear a mask. It’s a sign of respect.” She reminded that no matter who or where we are, always wear a mask.
