3 Print Teachers Honoured with Presidential Print Award during Techer’s Day
30 September 2022: To celebrate ‘Teacher’s Day’ on 5th Seotember 2022, 2022, Offset Printers’ Association (OPA) felicitated 3 eminent print teachers with ‘Presidential Print Award’ during international conference on Printed Electronics and Smart Packaging at DCRUST, Murthal. The awards were presented by Prof. (Dr.) Rajendrakumar Anayath, Vice Chancellor of the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology, Murthal to Prof Dr. Ambrish Pandey; B. D. Mendiratta and B. R. Chaudhary.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Kamal Chopra, General Secretary of OPA said, whatever we are today is only due to the firm roots, it is therefore to acknowledge the roots of development of printing in India. No effort was ever made to recognize the teachers responsible for the revolution in printing in India and to remember the contribution of the masters of this great art. We at OPA feel indebted with the dedication of Print Teachers, it is therefore OPA took up this initiative.
Presenting the awards, Dr. Anayath said, Printing is considered to be the biggest invention of mankind till date and has a long and vast history, printing existed centuries before Christ. The Cuneiform, one of the earliest known writing systems developed in Sumer (modern day Iraq). Wedge-shaped marks were made on clay tablets by a blunt stylus cut from a reed are known during 3100 BC. Going in history we also know that Papyrus plant that is paper-like material was used as a writing surface in Egypt and Ink from lamp-black made in China was in use during 3000 BC. Dr. Anayath thanked OPA for recognizing the work done by print teachers, who with their determination and will power have trained the technicians who transformed the printing history of India.
